There is no shortage of news stories puppy mill Bill busts and it is still tragic. But what concerns me more than missed puppy mills is the fact that there are numerous mills puppy out there who are still in operation. Some States, such as Missouri, have adopted legislation to prevent the cruel practices of puppy mills, but it will never be enough?
What exactly is a Puppy Mill? Basically, the term "Puppy mill" is used to describe a commercial dog large scale transaction which puts profit above health and safety of breeding dogs. These facilities often work in rural areas, hiding from public view. They breed over dogs and forcing dogs and puppies live in appalling conditions. Puppy mills may try to masquerade as head of breeding kennels, but the truth is that they are prisons for dogs. Knowing that all of this, one wonders how these facilities manage to stay in business.
At the end of the day allowing factories running puppy is pretty simple; It is supply and demand.
No matter how hard the legislators and citizens working to enact laws for the anti-puppy mill, the "Wicked" will find a way to hide. The only real way to stop puppy mills is to cut their profits. Puppy mills often sell their offspring through brokers who, in turn, sell puppies to pet stores. In recent years, puppy mill operators decided to cut the middleman and sell through online kennels puppies. Implement a nice site with adorable puppy portraits and it may be easy to deceive consumers. One can imagine just what happens behind the scenes.
WE are those who can make a difference. If puppy mills can sell puppies, what is the point to stay in business? Certainly, the changes won't happen day overnight, but if spread us the word, we can gradually make a difference. Pledge to adopt only your dog next housing or legitimate rescue group. Avoid the so-called "designer breeds" or hybrid. If a purebred puppy is a must for you, just buy your dog from a breeder of responsible dog with valid references. Ask to see the puppies living quarters and the mother dog (father, too if possible). Advise others to do the same. What you do to stop puppy mills?
